Why are there three sacred ministers at the Solemn High Mass?
The Solemn High Mass is the full form and norm of Holy Mass. The rubrics suppose that a Solemn High Mass is being celebrated. When the priest is celebrating Holy Mass alone, he is really doing the work of three people. In a way, the three sacred ministers represent the three persons of the Most Holy Trinity who each act distinctly yet always in conjunction with the other persons.
